Samsung has been slow to innovate in the camera department of its flagship phones, leaving fans disappointed with the same camera hardware year after year. However, the future looks promising as the company is set to introduce significant camera upgrades with the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra Camera Specifications

Galaxy S25 Ultra

Renowned tipster Ice Universe has revealed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will retain its quad-camera setup but with major enhancements. According to a post on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP super-telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

If these leaks are accurate, Samsung is overhauling all the rear cameras on the Galaxy S25 Ultra with newer, higher-resolution sensors. For context, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP super-telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

While many of Samsung’s Android competitors have moved to 50MP or higher-resolution sensors for their high-end phones’ rear cameras, Samsung has lagged with its 10MP and 12MP telephoto and ultrawide cameras on its flagship Galaxy S series. It’s encouraging to see that Samsung has substantial upgrades in store for the next year, potentially enabling 8K video recording on all rear-facing cameras of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

There are also rumors that Samsung might use a newer 200MP camera sensor for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, potentially closer to a 1-inch sensor in size. If true, this would mark a significant improvement in camera quality expected early next year.

Galaxy S25 and S25+ Camera Details

Details about the cameras on the standard Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ remain unclear. With the Galaxy S25 series set to be announced early next year, more information about Samsung’s upcoming flagship series should emerge in the coming months.

What to Expect from the Galaxy S25 Series

The Galaxy S25 series is anticipated to bring noticeable design changes, upgraded cameras, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, and One UI 7 software based on Android 15.

Some models in the Galaxy S25 series might also include a new Exynos processor, potentially the Exynos 2500, utilizing newer CPU cores from ARM and Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 3nm process. This new chipset is rumored to be designed for high performance and efficiency, with features specifically tailored for Galaxy devices.
