Originally introduced as Bard in October 2023, Google rebranded its next-generation AI assistant to Gemini in February 2024 and began its rollout in the USA. Since then, Google has gradually expanded its availability to other markets, now including Europe and the UK, with plans for further expansion.

Gemini surpasses Google Assistant in understanding natural language, providing detailed explanations, and grasping context. While it initially lacked some integration with third-party and Google services compared to Google Assistant, Google has since enhanced these features. Now, Gemini integrates with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Keep, Google Tasks, Google Workspace (including Docs, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides), and YouTube (including YouTube Music).

Gemini is now available in several languages, including:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Indonesian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
  • Thai
  • Vietnamese

With this release, Gemini is available in nearly all countries worldwide, except China and Hong Kong. However, Google still needs to add support for numerous other languages to Gemini.
