Galaxy S Plus I9001 has updated with Value Pack XXKQG Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware Update. Samsung Galaxy S Plus i9001 comes with Android OS v2.3 and a powerful 1.4 GHz single core Scorpion processor. It has 4.0 inches Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Samsung Galaxy S Plus i9001 has 5 MP camera with autofocus, LED flash plus a Secondary VGA camera and Video recording at 720p@30fps. The phone has Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot and 3G data transfer at HSDPA 14.4 Mbps; HSUPA 5.76 Mbps. It’s not a custom ROM firmware and this update is released in select countries. Since it’s a global update, it can be applied on all the devices which are not network locked devices. 1. Backup all your data properly, so that after applying this firmware you can restore all your data back to its own place. You can take help from this Titanium Backup tool

2. Charge your battery at least 80% so that no power interruption during the process.

3. Enable the USB Debugging in your Galaxy S Plus I9001 from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.

4. Disable all security programs like antivirus and firewall. Also disable Kies for Samsung.

5. Download the XXKQG firmware package. Extract the firmware zip file to get two files, I9001XXKQG_I9001XXKPL_I9001NEELE1_HOME.tar.md5 & SS_DL.dll which is just a supporting file.

6. Download the Odin.

Step by step guide to install XXKQG on Galaxy S Plus I9001

Step1. Open odin from the extracted folder in your computer.

Step2. On your mobile go to the Download Mode. Download mode can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which a green robot will be shown indicating the Download Mode has been entered.

Step3. Now as you are in download Mode connects it with the PC while Odin will be opened.

Step4. You will see in Odin that the ID:Com section will turn yellow that means your drivers are installed correctly.

Note: If it does’t turn yellow then you must install the drivers of your device by Samsung Kies.

Step5. Click on “PDA” tab and select the file “I9001XXKQG_I9001XXKPL_I9001NEELE1_HOME.tar.md5” which you can find from extracted files and click on “Start”. It will take around 4 – 5 minutes to update the device.

Step6. Once the device is updated successfully, it will be rebooted and home screen will be shown.

Step7. Turn Off the phone to enter the device in the recovery mode. Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.

Step8. In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now with the help of Volume rocker keys.

Step9. Just reboot and you are completed.

That’s it now your device after restart land on new Custom rom.

Note: If the firmware update interrupts between the middle of the process.  Then you need to reinsert the battery and apply the update again by following the steps again from the start. Don’t forget to restore the backup which you have taken in the initial steps:
