Hi, everything fine until step8. after that, Ace 2 did boot up, i disconnected it, i shut it down and pressed volume down + home + power buttons but i got the download screen again. I couldn’t get it to recovery mode. Is there any step i missed?
there’s a mistake there. it should be vol-up + home + power
@Panos:
There is a little mistake in the text i guess. The step 8 shall be VOL UP + HOME + POWER, that puts the phone into recovery mode
2) Copy upd.zip to your SD Card
3) Open odin, import the file I8160XXLD8_ready_to_root_ANT.tar.md5 as a PDA.
4) Boot your phone in download mode (hold vol down + home + power)
5) Hit start on odin
6) Once odin has finished, boot your phone into recovery mode (vol up + home + power)
7) Select update from SD Card, select upd.zip and flash it.
8) Done! Boot up your phone and you have root
Hi,
i have followed your steps but i’m stuck on the screen said:
Odin Mode
Product name: GT-I8160
Custom Binary download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
Downloading….
Do not turn off target!!
Step9: correction > Press Volume up + Middle + Power to enter download mode.
Pass 9 Volume “up” + Home +Power button
Hi,
it took me far too long to achieve success, because apparently I can’t read -I left the .mg5 file inside the zip archive, and Odin kept telling me something like “success 0 / failed 1; then eventually I read your brilliant instructions word by word – and at last unzipped; now I’m just re-downloading my most wanted root apps – Titanium backup Pro and LBE Privacy Guard.
Thanks a million!
[...and, as noted above, you reach Recovery Mode with Vol Up, not Vol Down
]
Regards,
Jochen
