Backup of Applications, App Data and App Settings
In a My Account section of Market website you will find the list of all the application, which you have downloaded from the Market. Even if you remove the app from your device then also you will find that one on the list.
Suppose if you have wipe your device and reflash it, leaving the device without opening the Market app for few minutes and all the apps, which you use to install in your device should download and install automatically in your device.
You must use ASTRO File Manager to copy APK files of each application on your device SD card. To perform this follow the path – Menu | Tools | Application Manager / Backup, then choose all the apps you want to have in your device and press Backup. You can also restore them from the same menu.
Disadvantage: On restored, you won’t receive any automatic updates from the Market.
Application settings and data are harder items to deal with. For those who have rooted, can copy all APK to their SD card but those who haven’t rooted has to face some difficulty.
- Few apps will allow you to take the backup of your data from the app itself, you have to look for menu option called ‘Backup or Export’.
- Few apps store their settings and data on SD card.
- Many apps store their information on internet storage in a secure area, which can’t be accessed normally and few apps from this apps are integrated to MyBackup Pro – check the list by clicking here.
Backup of Images, Audio and Other SD Card Data
The images and audios are mostly stored on SD card, which usually can’t be wiped on wiping the phone. You can easily take the backup of all the data in SD card by connecting the device to the Computer and copy everything on it.
Another simple method for taking backup of images and audio is iSyncr to PC | Mac with its WiFi Add-On, which automatically synchronises all your images along with my iTunes. Even when you don’t keep iTunes it’s better to use that for its photo sync features, which can copy all your images that you had backup in your Computer.
Backup of System Settings and Home Screens
You can easily take the backup of your settings and home screen layouts to the cloud and just few minutes after reflshing the device, you can have it on your device working fine as it does previously.
To enable the settings, visit ‘Settings > Privacy Settings’ where you can find the menu option. Some devices hide this option and you have to search this option in your phone.
It is better to use MyBackup Pro or Sprint Backup to export the settings and home screen.
